IRC Cares for the Earth: PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk Partners with Motorcycle Community for Kuta Beach Cleanup

IRC Tire Supports Government Program to Reduce Plastic Waste with Beach Cleanup in Kuta

In support of the government’s initiative to create a cleaner environment and reduce plastic waste, tire manufacturer PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk (IRC Tire) organized a plastic waste cleanup at Kuta Beach on Saturday, March 11, 2023.

For this beach cleanup, IRC Tire collaborated with one of the motorcycle communities, Honda PCX Club Indonesia (HPCI) Bali Chapter.

“Today, we are conducting a campaign to reduce plastic usage through beach cleanup, in collaboration with HPCI Bali,” said Dodiyanto, Senior Brand Executive of PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk.

The campaign, called #IRCPeduliBumi with the theme “Protect the Earth, Reduce Plastic”, was launched earlier in 2023.

Plastic waste comes in many forms, is difficult to decompose naturally, and takes a long time to break down.

According to Dodiyanto, this beach cleanup and campaign align with IRC and Zeneos tires, which are now packaged without plastic.

“Previously, tires were wrapped in plastic. Now, all IRC and Zeneos tires are free from plastic wrapping. In line with that, we run this campaign with our community partners, especially motorcycle communities, as they are among our product users,” explained Dodi.

He added that the campaign will continue as a roadshow in several other major cities across Indonesia.

“Similar activities will be carried out in other cities in Indonesia for the future of our next generation, ensuring a clean environment,” he added.

On the same day, an IRC Retailer Gathering was held with IRC tire distributors from the Bali area. During this event, IRC also promoted the campaign “Love the Earth, Reduce Plastic”.

Dio Ilham Prayoga, Chairman of HPCI Bali Chapter, praised the initiative, stating that it is very positive and beneficial for maintaining a clean environment.

“With events like beach cleanup, we become more aware of our surrounding environment. The theme ‘Protect the Earth, Reduce Plastic’ is excellent, and we fully support this positive initiative,” said Dio.

Despite the hot sun, members of HPCI Bali Chapter enthusiastically collected plastic waste along the beach. The activity concluded with photos and a group lunch.

Since mid-2022, PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk has implemented a policy in which IRC tubeless tires are no longer wrapped in plastic. Currently, all IRC tires—including tube type tires—and Zeneos tires follow the same policy.

This policy also applies to passenger car tires, as GT Radial tires had previously adopted plastic-free packaging.

Even without the plastic wrapping, the company claims that tire performance remains unaffected during use.
